George Fortunato
It has been my profound joy to teach arguably the greatest instrument in the world. The Guitar transcends style and content moving human emotion like no other instrument.
I'm certainly biased, having toured full time throughout the eastern half of the US and Canada for eight years - enjoying a recording contract with RCA and opening concerts for bands such as J. Geils and the Critters. Prior to this , I had the good fortune of being able to perform continuously through High School and College in various local rock and pop bands. This helped to prepare my full time career. Academically I was blessed to have first studied with my father who played with greats such as: Tony Bennet, Sammy Davis Jr., Patty Page and many more( sorry , this is supposed to be about me, not Dad). I then spent several years studying with my fathers peers.
Currently, my performances are limited to solo appearances in church weddings, private dinner parites and local churches.
Following the steps of my father, I have been teaching for 26 years. My instructions are provided for the beginner, intermediate and advanced students with emphases on music theory, improvisation, reading transcription and tab while also encouraging ear training for performance in a "live setting". The following styles are provided - Rock, Blues, Pop, Funk, And Jazz. To present the guitar in it's most comprehensive setting to my advanced students, chord melodies are examined and taught in context to evoke emotion in the guitarist and the listener.
It is my mission to share this love affair with all who desire to embark on this adventure of learning to play this magnificent instrument. I hope to inspire and instill confidence - facilitating students to have fun and be able to express themselves with excellence.
